A: MJ: Our HERS® ratings allow our buyers and homeowners to better understand the amount of energy their homes are saving. The lower the score, the more energy-efficient the home. It also allows buyers to compare the energy efficiency of our homes to other houses.
Q: Why should consumers ask for the HERS® Index Score on homes they are shopping for?
A: MJ: Consumers should ask for the HERS® index to gain a better understanding of a home’s energy consumption. The HERS® score allows buyers to view a home’s energy performance and budget their overall home expenses before buying a house.
Q: Why does Colony Fine Homes choose to have their homes HERS® Rated?
A: MJ: We choose to have our homes rated because we are proud of the energy efficiency of our homes, and we want our homebuyers to know that they will save money on energy bills when purchasing one of our homes.
Q: Why consumers should expect energy-efficient homes?
A: MJ: Energy-efficient homes help reduce the carbon footprint and save costs on energy bills. Buyers should expect to live in a well-built home that will help lower their overall cost of living.
Q: How many homes does Colony Fine Homes build with HERS® per year?
A: MJ: All of our homes are rated by the HERS® Index. We build from 100 to 200 homes per year.
Q: How do you market HERS® Rated homes?
A: MJ: We highlight the HERS® ratings of each of our floor plans on our website. We also utilize social media to spread the word about our energy-efficient homes. Additionally, we have a separate webpage dedicated to showcasing the many home features that allow us to have such low scores.
Q: How do your customers feel about HERS® Rated homes?
A: MJ: We believe that it is important to educate each of our buyers about the energy efficiency of our homes. Our consumers love knowing that their homes are saving them money and energy! Our buyers also appreciate the third-party inspection that ensures that our homes are energy efficient and have low HERS® scores.
